F. D. K. C. STATEMENT ON MEMBERSHIP POLICY

Membership in the Framingham District Kennel Club is open to persons in good standing with the American Kennel Club who subscribe to the objectives of the F.D.K.C. and who agree to abide by its constitution and by-laws and the rules of the A.K.C.

 

Applicants must have the written endorsement of two members in good standing who have known the applicant for a minimum of one year, and have themselves been members for over one year.  Sponsors may not be from the same kennel or family, and are allowed to endorse only two new members per year.  Sponsors must attest to their personal knowledge of the applicant, his interests in the general welfare of purebred dogs, his sportsmanship and ethical conduct, as well as a sincere desire to be an active and contributing member of F.D.K.C.  Dealers who sell dogs to commercial outlets will not be considered for membership.

 

The F.D.K.C. membership is small and congenial, and consists of a cross section of the dog world: breeders, judges, exhibitors, fanciers, and handlers with common interests and goals.  The Club supports various dog related organizations.  While a major project each year is the very successful F.D.K.C. All Breed Show/Obedience Trials, our regular meetings are a blend of educational and social pursuits involving purebred dogs.

 

Guests are welcome at open meetings of the Club, and it is a requirement that he or she attend a minimum of two meetings before submitting an application.  As an alternative to attendance at one meeting a potential new member can work as a volunteer (stewarding, information table, catalog sales, etc.) at an event under the guidance of an F.D.K.C. show or committee chair who will verify such volunteer work.

 

Completed applications, along with a fee of $5.00 per applicant should be sent to the Club Secretary.

 

Application for membership, after being brought before the Board of Directors for their approval, will be published in the next notice for the appraisal of the general membership.  At the next meeting of Board of Directors, the application will be voted upon.
